st.nike
i attended catholic school for much of my life. what you may not know is that in high school i lived each summer in the franciscan missionary sisters convent in beaverton, oregon-also home to nike. my school sent me to win money in these jeopardy-like competitions because i had a knack for remembering things like, how many times the word angel appears in the new testament (what is, 266!) and which saint's blood boils every year (who is, st. januarius!) and what a hair shirt is (what is, a garment of rough cloth made from goats' hair and worn in the form of a shirt or as a girdle around the loins!).
that's right, while you were steaming up windows at the bowling alley, i was knee deep in vespers or being hauled off with the penguins to tour every fish hatchery in the pacific northwest. and while i've pretty much shaken all the dust from that convent, i still collect rosary's and i still sit in empty churches reading stories like that of bernadine of siena, patron saint of advertising: st. bernadine
who says pr isn't a vocation?
