glen hansard's song, 'falling slowly' is nominated for an oscar- which means they've finally gotten a few cool people on the board of the academy. here's hoping that this is a trend and that we'll be freed from the shackels of having to endure scores by phil collins or by fluffy haired guys with tiny glasses who, when they win, show up on stage with seven scarves and give acceptance speeches that sound like that backwards talking midget guy in the david lynch films.

this movie was epic from start to finish and giving it best song is a small step in the right direction of acknowledging music's role in great film making.
