spits and swallows
i volunteered at harper's school today for their thanksgiving feast. debbie, the headmaster of 26 years, asked me to go and get three rotisserie chickens from king soopers so she could put them on a spit and re-roast them over an open fire as to 'wow' the kids. and though some of you more tight-assed parents might frown at hearing the words 'spit' and 'open fire' at a preschool, it's these kinds of words that made me choose sunflower in the first place.
so anyway, i'm on my way to king soopers and i start thinking about how i love chicken and how rotisserie chicken is sexy and then i start thinking about all the types of birds that are sexy:
wrens
starlings
herons
swifts
nightjars
allies
swallows
and although these birds are best left uncooked, have i ever a need to roast them, i'm proud to report that i learned how to do so in preschool.
happy thanksgiving to you and your bird of choice.
