the whole shebang
i remember seeing you and your wife walk into the kitchen [upstairs] a little over a year ago. your long hair was hanging in your face, a look i've come to know is standard with you. jenny wore see through glass high heels and a pink dress that would make bjork jealous. i watched you both out of the corner of my eye, wishing we were still little kids so i could just walk up to you and say, "hey, wanna play in my sandbox?"
flash forward to today. we've found each other in the sandbox. it gets messy in here sometimes, shoveling all the smack talk and keeping the other kids from stealing our rake. they want to play in the sand so badly. "THERE'S NO ROOM!" we scream.
banquet, la dolce vita, jack daniels, plano, texas, caviar on demand, free ironing service, JT at 2am, jenny clone, red wine, robot conventions...ding dong, avon calling.
your mind is electric. thanks for letting me be a part of it.
i love you.
i love your wife.
i love all of us.
happy birthday rob.
(everybody wang chung tonight.)

down memory lane

about five years ago, i tracked down a guy named lane foard because i became obsessed with his clever line of cards called, squibnocket. besides, i track everyone down that i admire. i call and leave messages on their work voice mails, i write to them, and i send them love out into the ether...because, you know, why the hell not. so, after talking to lane from his san francisco apartment for about 30 minutes, he agreed to send me some of his cards that weren't available in colorado. he also included this one that i still have wrapped in the cellophane:
let me try to sort this out.
initial eye contact should last no more than 0.35 seconds. which leaves 9.65 seconds for an imaginary movie montage of you and me buying ice cream from a beachside stand, playing chase in the waves, washing a car, and spraying each other with hoses, skipping and wearing matching sweatsuits to a theme park, shopping for a puppy, and ultimately making sweet chaos under the stars until we cut back to real time and i get to look at you again.

i am so tired of having my footwear dictated to me. where's a girl gotta go to wear some heels, the strip club? cause i'm just tired enough of this season to work a little pole.
